Indian grandmother, 78, is believed to be the world's oldest professional sharpshooter

At 78, most pensioners are reliant on the glasses to even read a newspaper.

But not Indian grandmother Chandro Tomar.

With a £1,200 pistol in hand, and her sari draped over her long silver hair, it’s believed she’s the world’s oldest female professional sharpshooter.

She has entered and won over 25 national championships across India as well as raising six children and 15 grandchildren.

She said: ‘I wanted to do something useful with my life and show people my capabilities.

'As soon as I shot my first pistol I was hooked. And now I’ve shown everyone there’s no disadvantages to my age. If you’re focused you can do anything.’

Almost ten years ago Chandro took her granddaughter to a local firing range in Johri village, in Uttar Pradesh, India.

She wanted to learn a new skill but was too shy to go alone.

In the end it was Chandro who was welcomed into the club with open arms.

‘As I was waiting around I decided to have a go. The coach spotted me and was amazed at my aim,’ she said.

‘He told me to come back so I did. Initially I was just supporting my granddaughter but I enjoyed it so much it became a passion and I looked forward to going to the club every week.’

While Chandro tended to her daily chores on her farm and raised her family, she practiced her aim whenever she could using stones and throwing them at water bottles.

The club’s coach, Farooq Pathan, who set up the shooting club with two friends in 1998, said: 'I was surprised when I saw a pensioner in our group but she picked it up pretty quickly.

'She was so good some of the men stopped turning up altogether to avoid being humiliated by her, a old woman. She has the ultimate skill, a steady hand and a sharp eye.'

And now she’s a national treasure, known throughout India for her skill, even winning gold at the Veteran Shooting Championship held in Chennai.

But her biggest fan is her daughter Seema, who is also an international shooting star becoming the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Rifle and Pistol World Cup.

'She is amazing,' she said. ‘If she can do it then so can we. She showed us that anything is possible. She has helped so many of us improve our lives.

'Many members of the club have gone on to even find jobs with the military, and police force, because of her encouragement.’

Chandro had an experience with the police herself, proudly beating an officer at one competition.

She said: ‘I defeated the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Delhi police. It was brilliant.'

But medals or no medals, life at home never changes for Chandro and she still cooks, cleans and cares for her family, making sure dinner is served before firing some bullets down at her local range and helping to carve out future success stories from the club.

Thrill seekers risk their lives a taking a walk along 'world's most-dangerous path'

Teetering along a crumbling walkway over 100 metres high, a group of intrepid climbers carefully inch their way across what has been dubbed the most dangerous path in the world.

And they're not alone. Adrenaline-junkies have been flocking to southern Spain to experience the 110-year-old El Caminito Del Rey before work begins to refurbish it next tear.

Companies have now begun offering unofficial tours after a video of a walker tackling the hair-raising trail went viral on YouTube.

On the edge: A close-up shows the hair-raising crossing. Adrenaline junkies are flocking to take on the path after a YouTube video appeared of a walker tackling the trail wearing minimal safety equipment

And you don't need to be an experienced climber either, the only requirements are thatwalkers should be at least twelve years old and have a good head for heights.

The trail, also known as the King's Pathway, was originally built in 1905 for workers to travel between two hydroelectric power plants but was closed-off in 2000 after two walkers fell to their deaths.

It snakes its way along cliff edges high up in El Chorro Gorge, thirty miles from Malaga. 

Much of the one-metre-wide walkway is crumbing away with rusting supports, gaping holes, no handrails and sections that have completely fallen down.

A makeshift wire has now been attached to the rock face which walkers and climbers can clip themselves on to in order to have some degree of security - but many still prefer not to use any safety equipment at all.

Work is now due to start on an 8.3 million project to make the pathway safe again and attract more tourists to the area.

It will take three years to re-construct and will see the pathway completely rebuilt with hand rails, protective barriers, lighting and a visitors centre..

One climber on the route last week said: 'It's a shame they're going to fix the path.

'It will sanitise it too much and take the thrill out of it. 

'It's free for us to go on right now but I'm sure they'll make us pay to use it in the future.'

Meet the real-life sky walker - the photographer who risks his life scaling sky-high buildings to take incredible photos of the world below.

Russian student Marat Dupri, 19, bought a Canon camera 18 months ago and immediately decided to start taking shots of beautiful views.

He began climbing onto the roofs of houses to capture spectacular views from the air, before deciding to go to even greater heights.

Together with his fearless friends and models, he has sneaked past guards at some of Moscow's tallest structures - to produce incredible yet stomach-churning images.

Scared of heights? Russian student Marat Dupri doesn't seem to be, as he photographs amazing views from sky-high structures around Moscow

The incredible photos show the teens walking in the sky, as they perch hundreds of feet in the air on pylons, or walking on the edge of a high building with NO safety harnesses.

Marat said: ‘When I am on the roof I have a feeling that the whole world is by my feet.

‘All my problems and trouble are left somewhere down. The height exhilarates me. I am enjoying with my home town views. It gives me energy and fills with enthusiasm to make new and great shots.

 

‘I had always been interested in photography and a couple of years ago,  I bought my first proper camera.

‘I wanted to try and get the most spectacular pictures I could - pictures like no-one else had taken before.

‘I began by taking pictures from my own roof, but soon I wanted to get bigger and better pictures.

Quick learner: Dupri only bought his Canon camera 18 months ago but seems to be getting into the swing of using it and finding artistic inspiration

‘So I went with my friend to the top of a 33 storey building.  It was about 120 metres high and we went right out to the edge and I started taking pictures.

‘It was such a thrill, we couldn't wait to do it again.

‘I've taken a lot of the photos by sneaking past guards and getting access to structures illegally.

‘But I think the risks are worth it to take such amazing pictures.’

Marat's incredible pictures show several of his friends balancing on the very edge of beams hundreds of feet above the ground.

They are not attached to any safety harnesses and could plummet to earth at any time.

One photo shows the teens scaling one of Russia's seven Soviet skyscrapers, using a ladder to scale the side of the building.

And another shows his friend perched at the side of a monument to Peter I, 215 metres in the air.

The teens even took photos on the top of the Moscow tower - one of the highest buildings in Europe.

Marat added: ‘The building is 300 metres up in the air and it was really difficult to take photos because of the wind. I had to bend right over and just take a picture straight down.

‘That was the most dangerous photo I have taken, it was pretty scary.

‘I've also taken pictures from a 270 metre high radio mast that was still in use.

‘I got a huge adrenalin rush from taking the pictures, but I had a severe headache for several days after - I think it was from radiation.

‘It was worth it to get such amazing photos though.’

With fingernails nearly 20 feet long, Chris "The Dutchess" Walton set the record for the world's longest nails, which took 18 years to grow. That must be one expensive manicure.

The 45-year-old singer from Las Vegas known as "The Dutchess" is now part of the 2012 Guinness Book of World Records for her fingernails that measure 10 feet 2 inches on her left hand and 9 feet 7 inches on her right.

"It's kind of like a body part that I was born with, now I don't know what I would do without them," Chris "The Dutchess" Walton said while being photographed in front of the New York Public Library on Wednesday.

While she admits she doesn't know what she would do without them, we wonder what she does WITH them.

According to "The Dutchess," she can do almost anything with her 20-feet long nails including drive a car, shop and household chores. Well, anything but reach into her pockets.

"The hardest thing for me to do is dig in my pockets," she told the Huffington Post. "Everything else I can do myself -- driving, shopping, cleaning the house ... although when I vacuum, the cord gets tangled in my fingers."

One other activity she does not engage in is swimming, but not because of her nails. "I don't swim, but it's not the nails that stop me swimming. It's a hair thing," she said.

"The Dutchess" demonstrated how she texts with such long fingernails, using her knuckles instead, while promoting the 2012 Guinness Book of World Records with her glittery nails and flamboyant ensemble. 

She consciously thinks about her nails, which she has been growing for over 18 years, including when dressing herself, altering her clothing to fit her sharp lifestyle.

"I align my wardrobe to myself...If I like a jacket, I'll take the seam out of the arm and replace it with a zipper so I can get my nails in the sleeve," she said.

The mother of five and grandmother of three did not intentionally grow her nails over the past two decades for sport, but rather on accident.

"I never set out to make it into Guinness. It just happened," she told the Huffington Post. "One day I stopped cutting my nails. I liked the way they looked. And they just kept growing."

"The Dutchess" said she does not have a special diet to grow her nails and does not take vitamins or supplements to promote nail growth, but rather eats a lot of candy.

She does, however, care for her appendage-like fingernails, giving herself a manicure once a month. When asked how many bottles of nail polish she uses per manicure, she told the Huffington Post, "it depends on the brand, and how it goes on."

Chris "The Dutchess" Walton, a real life Edward Scissorhands, also said she does not plan on clipping her nails any time soon.

"I'm pretty sure one day I will cut them, but I can't see it in my head because I'm so used to having them," she said. "It's like a leg, I wouldn't just chop it off so it's gonna take some thinking."

She's been dubbed The Baby Whisperer for helping hordes of women realise their dreams of starting a family against medical odds.

Now it seems acupuncturist Yvonne Darnell, 46, has used her special skills to give life to one of her own carrots - which bears an uncanny resemblance to an angel-faced alien.

The 'Sussex Stork' dug up the unusual legume from her Burgess Hill garden.

Her first success story was a woman who had endured eight failed rounds of IVF treatment.
